Kiri-tansu dressers

Kiri-tansu Kiri-tansu is a chest of drawers made of paulownia wood.
In old Japan, when the girl was born, the young tree of paulownia (Kiri) was planted and there were customs which build a Kiri-tansu in the day which is married.

Since the surface of Kiri of a material is coarse, it is suitable for control of humidity. Since it is light and soft, Kiri does not rot easily, and it is excellent also in the insect control effect. If Kiri-tansu deletes the surface, new surface will appear. Therefore, it can recycle and can inherit over numbers of generation.

Kamo-shi is the area which is making most many Kiri-tabsu in Japan.
